En su tercera edición, la exposición colectiva REHOGAR se celebra en el marco de la Valencia Disseny Week con el objetivo de mostrar el potencial del diseño para aprovechar los residuos como materia primera de nuevos productos y, además, demostrar que otro diseño es posible.

En esta edicion SystemDesignStudio presento su lampara AURELIA LAMP.

La sugestiva forma circular de esta lámpara esta conformada por la combinación de diferentes partes de botellas recicladas de PET, mezclando diferentes tonos de color azul, e iluminada por un sistema de leds.

La propuesta "BIOAIR GENE"RATOR" presentado por System Design Studio formo parte de los paneles de los proyectos seleccionados que han sido exhibidos ante la comunidad mundial de Fab Labs, representando a mas de 30 paises de todo el mundo.

Trashkitchens

Trashkitchens es un evento previsto durante el BCN Design Festival. El evento mismo tendrá lugar en el espacio compartido de Transfodesign (El Colectivo Bajel), situado en el amplio centro de Barcelona. Durante dos días (el 15 y el 16 de Octubre), seis equipos crearán cocinas móviles (dispositivos en cuales se puede cocinar) a partir de material recuperado. Cada equipo tendrá el proyecto pre-diseñado y producirá su idea durante el evento, aportando un producto completamente funcional.

Trashkitchens is an event planned during the BCN Design Festival. The event itself will take place at Transfodesigns shared workshop space (Colectivo Bajel), located in the wider center of Barcelona. During two days (15th and 16th of October), six teams will create mobile kitchen display from salvaged material. Each team will pre-design the projects and they will need to produce their ideas during the event delivering a fully functional product.

For the second consecutive year, Makea Tu Vida sets out to demonstrate that another kind of furniture is possible.
REHOGAR is an exhibition that aims to emphasise the potential of design to use waste as raw material for new products.
The exhibition proposes a tour around an emergency housing (shelter) in which all the objects are made from waste: from reusing materials, using recycled and recylable materials, and objects that encourage re-use and recycling.
REthinking our homes and our ways of life, proposing practical solutions that are accessible to everybody, that can be reprodcued and that are environmentally-friendly.
The opening of the REHOGAR exhibition has been put back to the 27 September at 20:30 in the Octubre Centre de Cultura Contemporània (Valencia). The presentation period of proposals for the exhibition has therefore been extended until the 11 September.

Dwell ON DESIGN + inhabitat + TOUCH

The last week (25 to 27 june)was the Dwell ON DESIGN 2010 the biggest west coast design show, into the Los Angeles convention center.
Our project "ELASTISHELF" that was the winner of the EDITOR´S CHOICE GRAND PRIZE. Was exposed with the finalists from the Spring Greening DIY Design Competition on the show floor. Thanks to Zoe Melo ( TOUCH) and Jill Fehrenbacher (inhabitat) to organize the exhibition.

La semana pasada (25 al 27 de Junio) se celebro Dwell ON DESIGN 2010 la mayor exposición de diseño de la costa oeste de USA, en el Centro de Convenciones de Los Angeles.
Nuestro proyecto "ELASTISHELF" que fue el ganador del EDITOR´S CHOICE GRAND PRIZE. Fue expuesto en esta feria, junto con los finalista de la competición de diseño Spring Greening DIY . Gracias a Zoe Melo ( TOUCH) y Jill Fehrenbacher (inhabitat) por organizar la exhibición.

"100% RRR" is an exhibition organized by the city of Murcia and CESPA, which offers a journey through a house in which objects rotate around three axes: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Objects made of other recycled objects for its fabrication
, using recycled materials that encourage us to reduce resource consumption and minimize waste. Things that surprise us with its wit, inviting us to reflect on our lifestyle and our involvement as citizens in caring for our environment.

Our study involved with these three pieces in this exhibition:

"100% RRR" es una exposición organizada por el Ayuntamiento de Murcia y CESPA, que propone un recorrido por una casa en la que los objetos giran en torno a tres ejes: Reducir, Reutilizar y Reciclar.

The illustrious panel of judges from prominent design blogs and magazines, and the final tally of their votes gave the prize to the Elasticshelf by SystemDesignStudio. This clever and elegant shelf uses defunct bicycle tires stretched between two used furniture legs to provide fun and easy storage space for books and doodads.

Designboom editor Birgit Lohmann had this to say about the Elasticshelf: “The Elasticshelf brings together an unexpected use of materials, to create a visually interesting shelving system. Prefab 20*20: Visions for 400 SF Homes, an international open ideas competition organized by Architecture For Humanity Vancouver, Architectural Institute of British Columbia, Interior Design Show West 2009, and sponsored by Azure Magazine, recently announced the winners and shortlisted entries.
Prefab 20*20 challenges designers to propose a free-standing, prefab dwelling unit for a footprint no more than 400sf (37.5sm) in an urban setting anywhere in the world. Fit for two adults, its basic program shall include sleeping, bathing, cooking, living, working/studying, and storage areas.

.285 teams from 149 cities / 26 countries responded to the call. The winner, 2 runner ups, 4 honorable mentions, and 16 shortlisted entries will be displayed at the IDSwest 2009 (September 17-20 2009) in Vancouver, BC.

Prefab 20*20: Visions for 400 SF Homes, es una competición abierta internacional de ideas organizada por Architecture For Humanity Vancouver, Architectural Institute of British Columbia, Interior Design Show West 2009 y patrocinada por Azure Magazine, y recientemente ha anunciado los proyectos galardonados, siendo la propuesta presentada por System Design Studio – Self Suffient Prefab House premiada con una Mencion de Honor
Prefab 20*20 desafío a diseñadores a proponer una unidad de vivienda libre, prefabricada ocupación de no más de 400sf (37.5sm) en un ambiente urbano en cualquier lugar del mundo.El programa básico de la vivienda se ajustaba a dos habitantes con dormitorio, baño cocina, estudio y almacenaje.

285 equipos participaron de149 ciudades de 26 países respondieron a la llamada. El ganador, el segundo y tercer puesto ,las 4 menciones honorables, y los 16 seleccionados serán exhibidos en el IDSwest 2009 ( 17-20 de septiembre de 2009) en Vancouver, A.C.

ECO-LIGHTING GRASS STRAW

This lamp for the exterior is inspired by the dynamic light of the nature, and by the form of the grass straw. The mechanism is self-sufficient, which takes advantage of the energy of thevwind that rotates the leaf, that works as a dynamo aswell, that generates and stores the energy to illuminate when the surronding turns dark. The thread that illuminates the lamp produces optical effects when varying the speed whereupon spinning gives the sensation of volume.

Esta lámpara para exteriores esta inspirada en la luz dinámica de la naturaleza, y en la forma de las hojas de la hierva. El mecanismo es autosuficiente, aprovecha energía del viento que hace girar la hoja, que a su vez mueve un dinamo, que genera y almacena la energía para iluminar. El hilo que ilumina la lámpara produce efectos ópticos al variar la velocidad con que gira dando la sensación de volumen.

The lamp uses a system of led illumination, in addition it is totally self-sufficient by means of the use of integrated photovoltaic cells in the base.

The four cupping glasses located in their base allows to clamp it on the window surface. This way the photovoltaic cell is exposed directly to the solar light, that recharges the energy that will allow it to illuminate at night or as necessary. Its flexible neck allows to direct the light to the site that we need to light up.

Materials:
Ecoresin: Material composed of PETE (Polyethylene terephthalate), a resin Co-polystyrene of the family of the PET. realised with a 40% of recycled raw material.
Recycled rubber: Constituted of a base of superficial virgin rubber layer, material recycling is 80%.

La lámpara utiliza un sistema de iluminación de leds , además es totalmente autosuficiente por medio del uso de celdas fotovoltaicas integradas en la base.
Las cuatro ventosas ubicadas en su base permiten sujetarla al cristal de las ventanas. De esta manera la célula fotovoltaica queda expuesta directamente a la luz solar, que recargar la energía que le permitirá iluminar en la noche o cuando sea necesario. Su cuello flexible permite dirigir la luz al sitio que necesitemos iluminar.

Materiales:
Ecoresina: Material compuesto de PETG(polietilene tereftalato glicole), una resina co-poliestireno de la familia del PET. realizado con un 40% de materia prima reciclada pre-consumo.
Goma SBR Reciclada: Constituida de una base de estrato superficial de goma virgen, material reciclado preconsumo en un 80%.

This project explores the incorporation of the digital tools in the constructive processes, generating a parameterized container according to constructive, structural and formal criteria that adjust to the demanded requirements.

Going out from one unique module, determined by the dimensions of the material (plywood sheet), generating the minimum of waste, Reducing the costs in materials, combined with a fast and easy assembly/disassembling system. Calculating the surrounding surface whose structure will adapt to maintain the dynamic and static loads, using the minimum material to give greater solidity.

From one unit, under criteria of repetition and variation a dynamic space is generated, with a volumetric sensation of lightness, created by pattern built framework where the light sifts trough generating a game of shades during day and night.

Este proyecto busca Explorar la incorporación de las herramientas digitales en los procesos constructivos generando un contenedor parametrizado de acuerdo a criterios constructivos, estructurales y formales que se ajustaran a los requerimientos exigidos.

Tomando como base un único modulo, determinado por las dimensiones del material (lamina plywood), generando el mínimo posible de desperdicio, reduciendo los costes en materiales, combinado con un sistema de montaje y desmontaje rápido y fácil.

Calculando un superficie envolvente cuya estructura esta adecuada para sostener las cargas dinámicas y estáticas, utilizando el mínimo material para dar la mayor solidez.

A partir de un modulo, bajo criterios de repetición y variación se genera un espacio dinámico, con una sensación volumétrica de ligereza, creado por un patrón de entramado que tamiza la luz generando un juego de sombras tanto de día como en la noche.
